LETS TRY THIS AGAIN

August 12, 2008 (Sawf News) - In her first interview in two years, Britney Spears talks about her work, her two sons and her teenaged sister's pregnancy and childbirth, speaking with poise and confidence that belies her recent turbulent past, making it appear like a distant memory.

Britney redeemed herself speaking to OK! for their cover story this week, making up for the disastrous interview with the magazine in July 2007, when she had stormed out before the interview ended wearing $14,526 worth of OK!'s borrowed clothing and jewelry. In addition, she had ruined $6,974 worth of designer dresses.

OK! had interpreted Britney's irrational behavior as a cry for help and published what transpired as its cover story, instead of the interview and the photo shoot that did not take place.

The recent interview took place in Britney's living room in Los Angeles, in the presence of her father and conservator, Jamie Spears.

Britney is upbeat about her upcoming album which is expected to hit stores in six to nine months.

"I think it is more urban," she tells OK!. "I'm writing every day, right here at the piano in this living room... This is my best work ever."

CUTEST. COVER. EVER.

Shiloh Jolie-Pitt and Suri Cruise are the precious pampered babies of Hollywood royalty, but, as Star examines in our new issue, they're growing up in two totally different worlds.

The daughter of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, Shiloh, 2, lives behind the walls of the elegant Château Miraval in the South of France, where competition is fierce and chaos rules. Quiet, gentle and easygoing, the adorable little blonde — who's big sis to newborns Vivienne and Knox — loves playing with older siblings Maddox, 7, Pax, 4, and Zahara, 3. Shi, who is affectionately nicknamed Tweety, takes orders from Zahara and endures lots of good-natured roughhousing from her older brothers.

"The boys are tough," a source tells Star. "Zahara hollers back at them, but Shiloh is very gentle. The boys don't mean to be rough, but they pick her up and toss her around. She gets a lot of bruises. Often, Angie or Brad has to say, 'Stop that. Put her down!' "

The free-spirited little girl, who has Brad Dad wrapped around her tiny finger, wears hand-me-downs, plays barefoot and loves to pick flowers.

Back in the States, Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes' daughter Suri, 2, is often the picture of cool chic in her designer outfits and chic haircuts (that match Mom's!). Raised according to the strict rules of Tom and Katie's Scientology faith, the word "no" is almost never used with the girl, who still uses a bottle.

WHAT YEAR DO THEY THINK IT IS?

OK, First let's talk Tyra.  Girl, put your hands in the air and STEP AWAY FROM THE CRIMPING IRON.  It didn't look good when you were 20 and it doesn't look good now.  Aren't you supposed to have fashion sense?  Because that right there is just wrong.

Now, Katie Holmes.  I really do understand that living with Tom Cruise has it's bad moments.  It can't be easy being a cross between an alien and a stepford wife, but why must you torture us this way?  What have we ever done to you?  Unroll those jeans girl and set yourself free.

To both....  1990 called and it wants it fads back.

OH, JUST PUT ON YOUR BIG GIRL PANTIES AND TAKE IT LIKE A WOMAN

Tom Brady and Randy Moss, in the ultimate best impression of the last kids picked for dodgeball on the 5th grade playground at recess, have decided to NOT PLAY in the NFL PRO BOWL...  It absolutely kills me that the actions of this team AND THEIR COACH in the past 2 days has taken all the glory out of their 18-1 season... damn shame but it just goes to you that winning means nothing without class.  They are the perfect example of what it means to be a LOSER.

and in related news....

IS THIS WHY THEY LOST?

It's BUNDCHENGATE!!  Apparantly the arm-candy of Patriot's QB Tom Brady was so sure her man would win she said that if the Giants won, she would run through Mid-town Manhattan in the buff, lookety lookety!!  Of course, now that it has become clear what a loser Brady indeed is, she has retracted her comment in quite the witty manner:

"It was a mistake and I'm sorry I said it. I don't know what I could have been thinking -- Midtown Manhattan is a parking lot any time of day or night. It'd take 30 minutes just to make it from the Theater District to 34th Street. And what if I ran into the Naked Cowboy and had to pose for pictures with every out-of-town Tom, Dick and Harry? Tack on another 30 minutes, easily. How 'bout I simply flashed my breasts from a billboard in Times Square and call it a day ... will that work?"

Who knew she actually had a personality?  That was cute and all but honestly, you two are made for each other, neither one of you can keep your word...  not that it matters.  Maybe Gisele can look forward to a call from Jessica Simpson to console her... now there's a conversation I'd love to hear.

As we head into the final days of 2007 like most others, I find myself reflecting on the rollercoaster this year has been not only for me, but of course for the artists I write about and play on the radio, and there have been some serious rollercoasters this year!!  So, I thought we'd take a closer look at some of the good (and not so good) stories and record-breakers of 2007...  away we go!

THE DUTCHESS INDEED

Infact, Fergie has made just about every "Top of 2007" list this year, and deservedly so.  As I was thinking of people to focus on for the end of the year, the "Fergalicious" one was the first in my mind for two reasons.

A:  She had the best year of her life

and...

B:  I can actually say "I knew her when"....

Me, Paris and Fergie at a party in 1999!

So, it was really no surprise to me when she was selected as Blender's "Woman of the Year".   Stacy Ferguson (as we knew her then) has been working her tush off since she was a very young girl.  She's got more talent than almost anyone I've ever met (and I've met many, many performers) not to mention she is absoluetly one of the kindest, most generous people in the industry today.  Suffice it to say, not only has she earned the success she's garnered this year, but she absolutely deserves it!!  So, to my old friend Stacy, I say WAY TO GO!!

Here's an exerpt from the Blender interview:

"BLENDER: "So, how do you feel about being named Blender's Woman

of the Year?

FERGIE:  'It feels like such an accomplishment. I've been working in this industry since I was 7, and I'm finally being commended for those years. And — [sniffles] I can't believe you made me cry. I'm so embarrassed. And I'm f*ing up my eyeliner.'

It's the one time Blender will make Fergie cry — though we will come close a second time, before we say good-bye — but it's only the start of the drama. There will be teasing, more swearing, shouting, violations of California's open-container laws, taxicab-level confessions, even some making out (unfortunately, not with Blender). "

Fergie goes on to say:

"I might not be the most talented person in the world," she explains. "I might not have the best voice. I might not be the prettiest or the best dancer. But I've worked very hard, and I've gone through humiliation. That's why winning an award means so much more to me than it does to other people." And she wipes away tears."

and, work hard she certainly does.

Blender isn't the only cover she has graced this year...  Rolling Stone featured her as well when she released her CD "The Dutchess" this year, which ended up being the 5th best selling CD of the year.

and she didn't have a rough year romantically either...

Fergie has been dating Josh Duhamel (hottie from "Las Vegas") since 2004 but this year saw them stepping the relationship up a bit and taking the plunge of moving in together.  A few years back Fergie shared some relationship secrets with PEOPLE Magazine:

"It's not just Valentine's Day. Like we went to Cabo San Lucas, and we took a cooking class and we went fishing for marlin and mahi mahi."

And she's not the only one who can belt out a tune. "We sing karaoke. At his house, he has a karaoke machine," she said.

"Sometimes we'll sing really corny duets together when a couple of our friends are over. He does 'Total Eclipse of the Heart,' which is amazing. You've never seen anything like it. He gets into it. He's pretty good. He's better than you would think!"

Oh Fergie, we don't doubt you for a minute...  So congratulations to you on a fantastic 2007 and we're looking forward to spending 2008 in your presence!
